Murnau's Nosferatu is a landmark in gothic cinema, renowned for its expressionist style and its iconic portrayal of the vampire. The story is narrated from the diary of Johann Cavallius, historian of the city of Bremen, who is wondering if it was the Nosferatu who brought the plague to Bremen in 1838.
The film was a collaboration between a group of young German filmmakers who would later become major Hollywood players. It`s a portrait of daily life in 1929, and offers a humorous look at the social codes of urban leisure time.
