Dr. Ron Tyler will present over his recently published book, Texas Lithographs: A Century of History in Images at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth.
Recognized as an authority on the art of the American West, Dr. Tyler is an Emeritus Professor of History from the University of TX at Austin and is a former director of the Amon Carter Museum and past president of the TX State Historical Association. His presentation will focus on the German immigrant contribution to 19th C. TX art via the lithographs of landscape artists Hermann Lungkwitz, Karl Wilhelm von Rosenberg, Carl von Iwonski, and Wilhelm Thielepape, among others.
After the presentation, which will also be simulcast, for those in attendance on-site Dr. Tyler will discuss the archival materials used for his book which will be displayed followed by a book signing. If time permits, he will lead a tour of works at the museum of German landscape artists to discuss the influence of German Romanticism on 19th C. American landscape art.
